Breast Augmentation/ Breast Enlargement

30 03 2007

Breast Augmentation/ Breast EnlargementThe field of cosmetic plastic surgery is a dynamic branch of medicine which continues to grow through modern innovation, technique and researches; this is because of the endless desire for physical perfection by man. Breast Augmentation for example, is now one of most frequently performed cosmetic plastic procedure in the world. The interest for breast enhancement by patients and surgeons alike, continue to evolve as newer methods with improved result are being develop. At present, more and more women undergo breast augmentation every year as the popularity of the procedure is increasing, especially among women in the entertainment industry.

Silicon shelled implants are commonly used for breast enhancement. This implant could be either silicon gel or saline-filled. The implants are used to augment the breast of an individual that lack breast tissue or volume that could be genetically predisposed or environmentally induced. The female breast tissue is primarily composed of gland and fat cells and in the past, surgeons tried to inject the breast with fat that was initially obtained through liposuction from other parts of the body. However, in this day of modern medicine, this is completely unacceptable and obsolete, with undesirable effects such as hardening of the breast due to calcification, etc.. Some women also do hormonal therapy, since some of the female hormone such as estrogen leads to increase in breast size, slightly, but not enough for the majority of women.

At present, the most common and accepted way to increase breast size is via breast implants placement. A breast implant is a sac of silicone elastomer that is either filled with saline or silicone, and is surgically placed under the breast tissue or chest muscle. Silicon oil injection, which used to be performed in the past for breast augmentation had been condemned locally and internationally, since the result are unpredictable and compounded by numerous complication such as extrusion, skin necrosis and infection. Do not allow youreself to be subjected in this kind of procedure, because of its risks and deforming results.

The selection of breast implant size or volume depends on multiple factors such as the proportion of the breast to body height and shoulder width, as well as the location of nipple/areola complex, and cleavage. And because the concept of breast aesthetics are constantly changing, there are many factors such as implant type, size, and incision site that should be considered to tailor the needs of each individual specifically. The incision for implant placement may be placed at various locations of the chest/breast area such as; under the breast or at the breast fold; around the nipple areolar area; in the armpit (axillary); and the latest, at the umbilical area via endoscopic approach. The resulting scars are thin and inconspicuous, especially at the armpit area. Each of this incision has its advantage and disadvantages that must be discussed thoroughly between the patient and surgeon.

Breast implant could be silicone gel or saline filled. Silicon filled implant was popularly used 12 years ago in the United States, until it was thought that it possibly causes autoimmune mediated health problems associated with leakage, that’s why saline implants is now used in most of breast surgeries. At present, silicone implants are now gaining momentum and recent studies had come out, proving the safe use of silicon breast implant in breast enhancement surgery. The advantage of silicone implant is that it is softer and appears more natural. However, leaks may be found in surrounding tissues. Generally, saline is a bit firmer, but it is without the supposed health risks because a leak is simply absorbed by the body.

The final breast size is mainly a personal decision by the patient. There are several ways to estimate the ultimate breast size. This would include the breast cup size, but this is an inexact estimate of the final size, since cup sizes vary with the bra manufacturer and how tight or loose the patient wears her bra, as well as how much breast tissue is already present. But describing the preferred cup size does aid the surgeon. The most accurate method of estimating the implant size is to fill a plastic bag with measured amounts of water or breast implant sizer that is place in a bra with the patient’s estimated cup size. One can see with the bra on and covered by a sweater what the final result will approximate.

Cosmetic Dentistry, Dentures Designed For That Natural Looking Smile

Cosmetic Dentistry, Dentures Designed For That Natural Looking SmileIf you are looking for a relatively easy solution to replace your missing death, regain your confidence and give you a smile that makes you look and feel good again then tale a look at how cosmetic dentures have moved on in recent years.

Dentures are removable prosthetic devices which are designed to replace all or some of your teeth. Dentures don’t just improve appearance and personal confidence but provide facial support and have a working function in that they restore people’s ability to chew certain foods. It has been said that dentures are the dental industries answer to a face lift!

With an increased interest in cosmetic dentistry, denture technology has significantly moved on in recent years with dentures being designed for comfort and natural appearance. Current technology enables dentists to provide you with dentures that actually blend in with your features taking on the appearance of your natural teeth.

Long gone are the days when dentures are seen as belonging to someone who has passed their sell by date. New and exciting cosmetic dentistry advancements means that your dentist can provide you with natural teeth that everyone will think are your own. Dentures now fulfil their intended function enabling you to enjoy your food, be proud of your smile and remain blissfully unaware that you are sporting false teeth.

Cosmetic dentistry now enables you to design and choose your dentures alongside your dentist, making you feel part of the whole process and helping you to contribute towards your final perfect smile. You can now wear your dentures with pride safe in the knowledge that you look and feel good.

I doubt few people will disagree that despite recent denture advancements dentures still take some getting used to with initial speech issue to overcome (very short term) and the possibility of mouth irritation and sores (normally being as a result of poor denture hygiene).

However, unlike some other cosmetic dentistry procedures, dentures are suitable for most people although there are some instances where your dentist may advise an alternative route with one being if you lack saliva as a result of a dry mouth.

When you first loose your teeth you will be provided with immediate dentures which will help you through those early months when shrinkage and changes in your bone structure and gums will occur. Your main denture plates will be created approximately 9-15 months after your teeth have been extracted and the relatively stable structure of your bone and gums can be used to create the mould.

It can sometimes prove difficult to keep lower jaw dentures in place in which case your dentist may advise the use of mini implants to help keep your denture in place. Mini implants are much less invasive as full tooth implants and can usually be placed into the jaw within an hour allowing you to walk out with your dentures safely snapped into place.

Don’t make the mistake of many and assume that dentures last for life. Even if you have a full plate you will still need dental care. Cosmetic dentures aren’t designed to last for ever and the American Dental Association recommends that you replace your dentures every 4 – 7 years. Dentures wear out and can become loose and ill fitting. Old dentures can cause gum irritation, facial pain, reduced ability to chew, digestive problems and in some instance can cause pre-cancerous mouth and gum lesions. If you have worn the same dentures for a long period of time your denture problems can’t always be completely fixed so always go down the safe route and get your dentures checked on a regular basis.

Unlike some other cosmetic dentistry procedures your new dentures should be covered by your dental insurance. The cost of dentures is significantly less than many other cosmetic dentistry procedures with the prosthetic plates costing as little as $500 with an upper limit of around $2,000 - $3,000. In addition to the cost of the denture you will also have to pay your dental fees which are likely to range between $400 and $1200 per plate.

Natural Cosmetics: Cleanse Before You Apply

21 03 2007

Cleanse Before You ApplyIf your life is anything like mine, the most frequent natural cosmetic applied to your face is mud. Not just any mud. We are talking natural cosmetics here, so the mud should be at least ‘pure mud’. For me it is pure garden-variety mud, not necessarily intentionally applied as a mud ‘pac’ however, it’s drying and good for my skin capabilities probably reach high-impact.

Nature girls love natural cosmetics. That includes cleansing options!

My herb garden often results in the ultimate mud pack as I dredge the back of my hand across a cheek to wipe away sweat, or push back those stray strands of not-so-blonde-anymore hair. Even more importantly, it provides for the occasional spa treatment I give myself.

Rosemary vinegar is created when I drop fresh rosemary into a few cups of apple cider vinegar and let them chill in the fridge for a few days or longer. This is then applied to a cotton ball and used as a refreshing astringent that doesn’t torment my skin (although I smell delightfully pickled when I’m done). Rinse thoroughly and apply Natural mineral foundation for a soft healthy glow.

A few handfuls of fresh lavender petals dropped into my bath water as it fills with hot water allow me to lay back and enjoy the lightly aromatic room and relax. I often sprays of lavender in lace bags and hang them in my closets to dry while they give my clothing a light scent, in preference to wearing perfume. (Dried, they also make a great tea for sipping during the bath.) Natural cosmetics often appeal to those who wear little or no perfume. Lavender is an awesome solution to eliminate the need for perfumes.

Lemon grass and a tablespoon of olive oil give my hair a nice shining glow after a long day of working in the garden. Add a spoon full of sugar and massage it into skin during a bath for a delightfully wrinkle and blemish free complexion. Whipped with a mixer to form a frothy cream, this mixture can be kept for several weeks in the refrigerator for a ‘ready when you are’ cell sloughing cream. Your skin will be ready for an application of mineral foundation and natural cosmetics with a natural glow emanating from healthy clean skin.

Slices of cucumbers over your eyelids cool the sagging skin, allowing it to tighten and smooth. Soothing as they feel, you really must take them off before opening your eyes. Mineral eye shadows will enhance your already lovely eyes. Just apply and go!

Have a cup of tea! And after your tea has steeped and your bags have cooled, add the tea bag to your eyelids for a relaxing moment of herbal pleasures. Your visions will take hold and bring you through the moment of silence with a new outlook on life and a new spin on reality.

You’ll be ready to apply your natural makeup for a sensational day of Herbal aromas and pleasant events all day long. Mineral makeup lasts all day, so you can look forward to another adventure in your Herbal fantasy land in the evening after your day is done.
